Leadership
Lance E. Leavitt, President/Principal
Mr. Leavitt joined Sullivan and Merritt in 1995. He is responsible for daily operations and
focuses his leadership in business administration and the Electrical Division. Mr. Leavitt has spent
his career in the construction industry, first as an electrician and later as a project manager for
one of the largest construction firms in America. He has served as vice president at SMC and also at
Milliken Brothers, Inc. in Portland, ME. Mr. Leavitt founded the current SMC corporation with CEO Jon
Lee in 2006.
Mr. Leavitt is a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association, the IBEW Joint Apprenticeship
and Training Committee Board of Directors, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefits. He holds
a master electrician's license in Maine.
Jon E. Lee, CEO/Principal
Mr. Lee joined Sullivan & Merritt, Inc. in 1982 as a warehouse attendant/truck driver and has grown
up in the heavy industrial construction industry. Mr. Lee worked his way up to vice president at
Sullivan & Merritt, Inc. before fulfilling a life-long goal of owning his own construction company
when he founded the new SMC corporation in 2006 with President Lance E. Leavitt. Mr. Lee is responsible
for daily operations. His leadership centers on the mechanical division and overseeing SMC's main
headquarters in Bangor, ME.
With a background in mechanical construction, Mr. Lee has worked on some of SMC's largest projects.
Mr. Lee is a member of the New England Mechanical Contractors Association, the International Foundation
of Employee Benefits, the Local 716 Pipefitters Apprenticeship and Training Committee Board of Directors,
and is a Management Trustee for the Local 716 Pipefitters.
